Ge Washer Tank Low Warning? ›

"Tank Low" will display when the SmartDispense™ tank needs to refilled. Typically, this first lights up when there are approximately 8 to 10 loads of detergent remaining. "Loads Left" displays the estimated number of wash loads left for the amount of detergent in the SmartDispense™ tank.

Tank low just means that your detergent dispenser or softener dispenser tanks on your washer are low on detergent/softener since you apparently have an automatic dispenser possibility on your washer. You can fill them up, or you can ignore them and add detergent each cycle like other washers.

If you use the washer with the bulk dispensers selected and there is no or low detergent and fabric softener, the washer will chime to indicate the bulk dispenser is empty and it will not start the cycle.

There is No Dedicated Reset Button

Unlike some appliances, GE washers do not have a dedicated reset button. To reset your washer, disconnect the power by unplugging it or turning off the circuit breaker, then restore power after a few minutes.

To reset the entire machine, flip the circuit breaker, unplug the machine for 2 minutes, and then restore the power. To reset the drum motor, unplug the machine, wait 1 minute, plug it back in, and open and close the lid 6 times in 12 seconds.

Washer Control Reset

To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes.

Replace the inlet water valve when you find its filter screen clogged. Also, periodically check the water supply valves for any blockages and ensure they are fully open for maximum water flow. Additionally, make sure your home's water pressure is adequate as low pressure can cause slow-fill issues.

The most common problem that causes the fuel gauge to read incorrectly is a bad fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit is used to measure the amount of fuel in the fuel tank and communicate the fuel level to the fuel gauge on the vehicle dashboard.

Hot water can be added to the tank (but is not required) to flush out the system before starting the clean-out routine. Press and hold both the Detergent Dispense and Select buttons for three seconds. Then, the empty-out practice will begin with the tank's contents.

Storing and Winterizing Your Washer

Turn off water supply faucets. Disconnect the hoses from the water supply and drain out the water from the hoses. Remove washer drain hose from drain. Lay hose on the floor and allow water to drain into a shallow pan or on the ground.

Does unplugging a washer reset it? ›

To reset the washer's control panel:

If your washer is plugged into an outlet, simply unplug the unit for one minute and then plug the unit back in. If the washer is hard-wired to the power supply, turn the breaker off at the home electrical panel that powers the washer for one minute and then turn the breaker back on.

Some washing machines have a reset function, consult your manual for details. Also, reset by disconnecting from power for a few minutes. Open and close the door of the machine 6 times within 12 seconds for a master reset. Before a reset, check power, circuit breaker, child lock, drain house or adjust the load.

You may even need to disconnect power to the washer and remove the drain hose from the back of the machine and the plumbing to see if there is a clog inside the drain hose. If you clear a clog, press START to resume your cycle or you can select Drain & Spin and press Start. If the water drains, then the clog is clear.

Test the water level switch

The water level switch sends a signal to the tub to stop filling with water. If your washer is filling with too much water, the two sets of contacts on the water level switch may have fused. Or there may be a leak in the pressure hose or air dome tube, which connect the switch to the tub.

Start by removing the washer fill hoses; both the cold and the hot water hoses. Check for proper water pressure from the house. To do so, turn the water on and put the hose inside the washer or a bucket. If water pressure is good, check the water valve inlet screens.

Add a Little More Water: Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add 3 gallons of water to the wash load. Once the washer has stopped filling, you can press it again to add 3 more gallons.
